About the British Canoeing SUP Safer Award

Course Details
This British Canoeing Certificated Award is for New and Novice paddlers or anybody that would like to expand and develop their safety awareness and personal safety skills.
We will work to develop your knowledge around equipment, including storage and maintenance, environmental factors, as well as practical rescues, giving you confidence out on the water.
- 4 Hours
- Min age 8 – under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian
- Max 8 people
- Lake Based
This 4 hour course is broken down into four modules which cover:
- Clothing and equipment
- Paddling environments, weather, tides and other factors
- Planning your journey, what to expect, and things to consider based upon your experience and ability
- And finally the fun bit! Practising Rescues and practical solutions if you get into difficulty, how to support each other and call for help
What to bring:
- Wet shoes (if you have them) or a pair of trainers (you don’t mind getting wet), avoid shoes that will fall off your feet like crocs and flip flops
- A towel
- Swimwear to put on under your wetsuit
- Warm clothing to wear after your session
- A few snacks and a bottle of water
- Sun cream, sunlight reflected off the water will cause you to burn more easily
- If you have a wetsuit you are more than welcome to bring your own but if you don’t have one we can provide one
